What are the admission criteria?
Women who have an addiction and meet the following criteria:
Parental status
- Are mothers with a child/children age 10 or younger
- Have custody or the potential for family reunification, or
- Are pregnant
Motivation
- Show a readiness for treatment (to live a drug-free life)
- Are willing to commit to a long-term program on-site (9-12 months) and aftercare services in the community for an additional 6 months
What is the cost of Treatment?
Transitions is a unique treatment program in that there is no direct cost to the client and her family. The Women's Bureau works in partnership with many agencies and funding sources to ensure the financial support for the program.
How do I access the services of the Transitions program?
As the first step in taking responsibility for her addiction, the potential client must call the Transitions program to complete a pre-intake interview by telephone. Contact Transitions at (260) 744-9201.
Who are Transitions' clients?
- 95% are single parents, and all are indigent with minimal mainstream resources
- 50% have less than a high school education
- 75% have an addiction and mental illness diagnosis
- 90% are survivors of abuse
- over 50% are recently homeless
