Engaging Men Task Force

A community collaboration established to train and utilize the resources of men in our community to work toward violence prevention.

HIP-HOP: Beyond Beats and Rhymes

A one-hour documentary that takes an in-depth look at the portrayal of women as sex objects, and men as violent, in the lyrics of hip-hop and rap music. This workshop examines the social factors that contribute to sexual violence and how one can avoid these stereotypes.

In tandem with the HIP-HOP program, we also offer a Media Literacy workshop that examines how the media influences gender expectations and attitudes in our culture. Media Literacy teaches us to analyze media messages and provides a set of tools for critical thinking, which can be applied to any media “product” or setting.
