Rape Awareness

Our mission is to relieve the trauma of sexual assault through crisis intervention and counseling and to prevent sexual assault through education and awareness.

According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, eight people reported rapes in February. Law enforcement believes only 10 to 20 percent of rapes are reported, so our community may have had up to 80 rapes in February. Contact the Rape Awareness staff to get involved with reducing sexual violence in our community at 260.424.7977.

Since 1981, The Fort Wayne Women’s Bureau Rape Awareness Program has developed a continuum of services for survivors of violence and their families, including counseling and prevention initiatives.

Whether you need information and referrals, support during a crisis, confidential individual counseling, personal safety information, or a self-defense class designed especially for your group, call us.
Our programs are targeted to specific age groups and address today’s environmental, cultural, and societal factors.

1 in 6 American women have been the victims of a rape.
Over 60% of all rape victims are under age 18.
